My Sloper Chrome Support

Many of you asked us to continue supporting Chrome as the browser for My Sloper. Well, with the last two Chrome updates, two rendering or display issues came up, which worked before. So, we’ve decided to spend quite a bit of time to produce a bug report to Chrome that would get their attention to fix the errors we have found.In response to this article “More Chrome Issues“, you will be happy to know that we’ve just submitted a Chrome bug report to them minutes ago, after spending a few hours trying to produce a generic situation that would produce a similar error to My Sloper.

Update:

We have reported this issue to Chrome under this report #550204. You can access its status reports by going to this page, https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=550204

Now it is up to Google’s support team to do their work to fix the error as the latest updates are a regression, breaking what used to work.

You will find that there are tons of bug reports on that support page by other users as well.

Opera

In addition, if you use Opera, you will find that the latest Opera too inherits similar errors from Chrome, as they probably use the same code base from Chrome.

Firefox

So, our most reliable browser for My Sloper to date is still our beloved Firefox. Way to go, Firefox!

More Chrome Issues

This article reports issues with the latest Chrome, version 45.0.2454.85 as far as My Sloper is concerned.The following illustrations show that when navigating through the Skirts display grid, clicking on a particular thumbnail causes the thumbnail to disappear on Chrome.

Chrome Version

This issue occurs in the Skirts Tab, Blouse Tab, Dress Tab and Jackets & Coats tab.

This is not an issue in either Firefox or Opera. We have removed Chrome from the list of preferred browsers for My Sloper until further notice. Our sincere apologies to faithful Chrome users.

The Latest Chrome and Its Rendering Error

My Sloper works on modern HTML5 and Javascript-driven Web browsers. As of lately, we have noticed some discrepancies in the behavior of the browsers we support: Chrome, Opera and Firefox. Not all browsers are created equal and each one has its quirks.

While developing the latest version of My Sloper, Version 1.81, we have noticed that the latest Chrome, version “43.0.2357.81 m” has not been rendering our patterns correctly. This is a new issue and we thought you might like to know, should you encounter similar issues.

The following is a mis-rendering of a sloper by the latest Chrome.

We compared the rendering of the same sloper on Firefox and Opera.

Opera Near Perfection

As you can see, Opera is near perfect as it is also not marking the waist line correctly, unlike Firefox which has done a superb job. Since we are not the developers of any browser, we have notified Chrome about this issue and we hope to hear good news.

Update from Google

Google has updated us with information that they are able to reproduce errors like this one on certain platforms including Windows 7 and Linux, and that their current version is a regression from a bad build. They have requested their developers to look into it further. A developer has been assigned to this issue. We will update you further when we hear from them.

Temporary Solutions

Until then, should you encounter issues similar to this one on Chrome, where the pattern is not rendered correctly, first try it on Firefox and Opera. If all three browsers render the same way, please contact us to report a bug on My Sloper with a clear step-by-step reproduction of the error. Thank you.
